Rubamazzo — aiOrion GamesItalian card game · First release

Expected October

Rubamazzo

Match a card. Steal the pile. Guard it if you can.

Three games in one free app: classic Rubamazzo, the 52-card game that also captures by sum, and the house form where sweeping the table scores. Every captured pile can become somebody else's prize. The complete local game is free and ad-free; when you want to play people online, Arena and tournaments are there too.

A guide for every variant

The rules

How it plays

  1. Play with a 40-card Italian deck, dealing three cards to each player and four face up to the table.
  2. Match the rank of table cards to capture them onto your face-up pile.
  3. Match the top card of an opponent's pile to steal the entire pile; it can be stolen back later.
  4. A card that captures nothing remains on the table.
  5. When the stock runs out, the last player to capture takes whatever is left on the table.
  6. The player with the most captured cards wins; a tie goes to the tied player holding the seven of Diamonds, the settebello, and if none of them has it they share the win.
Availability note. Rubamazzo is free and ad-free, and the whole local game is included. It takes part in Arena and tournaments like every other aiOrion game; the free app includes no Game Coins, so a coin pack bought in-app is what opens them. Local play never needs one.

Ways to play

3 games in one free app.

Every variant here is a game of its own — its own rules and legal-move checking, its own tables, its own illustrated guide, its own daily challenge, its own achievements and its own taught first game that walks you in. The free app brings all 3. Each option below changes the table while keeping the engine's legal-move checks in charge.

Rubamazzo

Classic Rubamazzo: 40-card Italian deck, match ranks to capture and steal piles.

  • Standard Rubamazzo (Rubamazzetto) played with the full 40-card Italian deck.
  • Match a rank to capture table cards, or match the top card of another player's pile to steal the whole pile.
  • Piles change hands until the deck runs out; whoever captured the most cards wins.

Rubamazzo a somma

Full 52-card deck: capture by rank, or by adding table cards up to the card you play.

  • Rubamazzo played with the full 52-card French deck, where the faces count at their natural value — Jack 11, Queen 12, King 13.
  • As well as matching a rank, a played card captures any group of table cards whose values add up to it: play a seven to take a three and a four together.
  • Matching a rank always comes first, so a card that matches a rank on the table takes it and never a combination; sums apply only when nothing on the table matches your card's rank.
  • Stealing an opponent's whole pile by matching its top card works exactly as in the standard game, and whoever captures the most cards still wins.
  • Note that official Rubamazzo captures by RANK ALONE — no published rulebook gives it capture by sum — so this is a house form, borrowed from Scopa, rather than the official game.

Rubamazzo — con le scope

The house form where clearing the table is worth a point of its own.

  • Rubamazzo with the sweeps house rule: a capture that leaves the table empty is a scopa, worth one point on top of the cards you took.
  • Everything else is the standard game — match a rank to capture, match the top of a pile to steal the whole pile, and the last capture takes what is left on the table.
  • Because a sweep counts toward the result, an empty table is suddenly worth playing for, and leaving one card behind is a real defence.
  • No published rulebook gives Rubamazzo a sweep, so this is a house form rather than the official game.

Every online table is a ladder. Each Arena table and each tournament above comes at four entry levels — Challenge 10 GC, Contest 50 GC, Championship 200 GC, and a Friendly 1 GC table that returns the coin to everyone who finishes. The higher the entry level, the more places share the reward; aiOrion keeps 10% of a paid table's entries to pay for running the online game, and nothing from a Friendly one.

Make it yours. Start from any of these, adjust the settings the game allows, and save it as your own template. Online tables start the same way: copy one of the Arena tables, then set the entry, the rewards and who may join.
