WordFront — aiOrion GamesSkill game · Second release

Expected October

WordFront

Build words. Claim ground. Hold the far edge.

Six games built on one original idea: every word you play changes the map. Race from your home edge, collide with rival words, wall a citadel, eliminate a rival outright — or drop the language entirely and play it as pure shape.

A guide for every variant

The rules

How it plays

  1. Every round gives all players the same shared, non-depleting letter set.
  2. Build a dictionary word in any of eight directions from your edge, your own letters or an adjacent empty square.
  3. Players place simultaneously; first claims space, while fresh same-turn words can be smashed.
  4. Where words touch, matching letters, surrounding contacts and friendly diagonal support determine the fight.
  5. Hold a beachhead on the target edge for one round; Points and Conquest modes resolve the victory differently.
Availability note. Expected October is an approximate target. The catalogue opens a few apps at a time, and each release waits until the one before it has settled in.

Ways to play

6 games for the price of one.

Every variant here is a game of its own — its own rules and legal-move checking, its own tables, its own illustrated guide, its own daily challenge, its own achievements and its own taught first game that walks you in. One purchase brings all 6. Each option below changes the table while keeping the engine's legal-move checks in charge.

Citadel

Build a citadel, then break out.

  • Points play with castles. Wall off an empty room with your own words and it becomes your courtyard: every square inside scores for you each round, worth double an occupied square, and every wall of a sealed castle stands one level taller.
  • Break a wall and the seal — and its points — vanish that instant.
  • The beachhead is gated: holding the far shore only wins once your citadel has stood. Two players.

Points

Most ground wins.

  • The classic goal. Hold a beachhead on your target edge and own the most ground when the game ends — nobody is eliminated.
  • Choose 2 players (the Duel) up to a full table in the template.

Conquest

Last one standing.

  • The flagship. No points — hold a beachhead on an enemy edge to eliminate that player and take their colour.
  • Play it solo free-for-all or in independent teams (partners play in shades of one team colour, each with their own supply network and beachhead); last side standing wins.
  • Player count and board are set in the template.

Conquest · United

Teams as one force.

  • Conquest played by teams that conquer as a single force: one shared supply network, one shared beachhead, each teammate painting in their own shade of the team colour.
  • Build from a teammate's letters as if they were yours.
  • Team sizes and board are set in the template.

Stronghold

Grow from your roots, wall your keep.

  • Citadel played with rooted growth. Every word must begin on your home edge or on a letter you already own — never on open ground — and castles are in play: wall off a room and its courtyard scores double every round, while the beachhead only wins once your citadel has stood.
  • Because both sides grow from what they hold, the fronts advance slowly and the castles grow vast: this is the variant of the great keeps. Two players.

Geometry

No letters. Only shape.

  • WordFront with the language removed. Each round DEALS a length — a single number, the same for both players — and your move is that many cubes, grown from a cube you already hold, in a direction you choose.
  • Every cube shows the defence of the set it belongs to, and each set is drawn inside its own outline, so the supply lines running back to your home edge are there to be read rather than remembered.
  • Combat loses its last letter rule: every touch is worth one.
  • Castles and the gated beachhead come with it — holding the far shore only wins once your citadel has stood. Two players.

Every online table is a ladder. Each Arena table and each tournament above comes at four entry levels — Challenge 10 GC, Contest 50 GC, Championship 200 GC, and a Friendly 1 GC table that returns the coin to everyone who finishes. The higher the entry level, the more places share the reward; aiOrion keeps 10% of a paid table's entries to pay for running the online game, and nothing from a Friendly one.

Make it yours. Start from any of these, adjust the settings the game allows, and save it as your own template. Online tables start the same way: copy one of the Arena tables, then set the entry, the rewards and who may join.
